Morphometry-Driven Divergence in Decadal Changes of Sediment Property in Floodplain Water Bodies

چکیده

Sediments are potentially the internal source that supply nutrients to water in lentic semi-lentic ecosystems. The understanding of factors cause temporal changes sediment properties is critical for management. This study investigated spatial variations and relation their controlling bodies Ishikari River, Northern Japan. Sediment data 29 were measured twice (around 2005 2019) properties, compared using Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMMs). including catchment morphometry examined by partial least square (PLS) regression. Our results showed change over decades was largely driven morphometry, while land use played a relatively minor role those changes. rate organic matter (OM) differed among depending on morphometry. small shallow provided suitable habitat macrophytes led OM deposits, resulting an increase total nitrogen (TN) ratio time. consequences these important management biodiversity conservation.
